Stars and Splendid Antique Malls in Sellwood

A few weeks ago, when I visited Madison Park, I also made a stop at Stars and Splendid, a wonderful set of antique malls in Sellwood.... Many of my friends have spaces there, incuding Lisa, Mitzi, Melanie and more!! Soon, I will join them with a small wall space of my own!!! Enjoy the pictures!

Expo treasures

I am so happy I have wrapped up my last show of the year!!! This was a challenging show to do as my sales were truly underwhelming... But I always have so much fun with my fellow dealers and with visiting friends!! And, I get to do a little shopping, too!! I am very excited with my little treasures...

The shopping starts early Friday morning in the parking lot, when dealers open up their trucks and some great bargains can be found!! This darling old tray was one of my parking lot finds, I just love it!!

I also found an old tin, a baby silver cup, an old book and some old check books (one as old as 1896!!!)...

... a bag of vintage watches...

... a great painting for a song...

... a cool wood box...

Then, inside the building, I was able to sneak out for a little bit and was thrilled with what I found! Love, love, love this old embroidered round tablecloth, and the price was a steal!

...also found some clock faces...

.... How adorable is this book??!!

... a bag of old sacks...

.... a vintage slip, which I hope to be able to wear....

... a set of skeleton keys...

... an old journal with unwritten pages...

... a wonderful set of six victorian swiss dot sheers in great condition, just a bit yellowed... They will, hopefully, grace my bedroom windows soon!

... a pile of old fabric, including a hand woven piece from 1870...

... And finally my favorite treasure, a small gorgeous handpainted trunk, chippy and well loved!!! As an added bonus, the inside is painted pink!! Does it not scream my name?

Easy wool pillows

I love, love, love old wool blankets!!! When I go thrifting, I am always on the lookout for vintage wool blankets in yummy colors... I have a huge collection, and even though I have used them to make tote bags and to cover benches, I am always on the lookout for easy projects. A while back, on a visit to my sweet friend Joy's house, I saw some pillows she had made with a vintage wool blanket, and loved them!!! I decided to recreate them: I cut sets of 20" blanket squares using a scalloped rotary blade, sewed three sides, stuffed the pillow in, then finished the fourth side! No seams to turn, no slip stitching, and in less than two hours I had whipped six pillows!! I even made one with two different sides, so you can switch sides depending on the mood... Thank you Joy for the inspiration!!

Local Favorites ~ Madison Park

Since we have so many beautiful antique shops around Portland, I have decided to start a new series on my blog, featuring some of my personal favorites... My first featured favorite is Madison Park, a lovely shop owned by a sweet friend and fellow dealer, Randy Parman. Randy has an incredible eye for victorian, edwardian and primitive treasures, and displays them beautifully in his stunning shop, set in a beautiful victorian home in the trendy Sellwood neighborhood!!! I am always in awe when I go in, and I always see the most precious antiques I wouldn'd mind taking home with me...!! If you ever come to Portland, I hope you can make some time to visit this amazing store, I know you will walk away happy!
