Then, from Monticello, I came home with...

Tarte's "Spring in Paris"

(Jake, the Queen's dog, in his own throne...)

I guess the next best thing to being in Paris is to visit Cindy's Paris inspired affair at her barn... Always an absolute treat to the senses!!! I hope you enjoyed the tour!! I will be back soon to show you the sweet treasures I found...

My Earth Baby

My firstborn turns 15, today.... I am just so amazed at what a beautiful, smart, caring and responsible young woman she is turning out to be!!! She truly is a dream teenager and a wonderful example for her younger siblings... Happy birthday, Anna, I love you to the moon and back!!!!

Charming use for a French pelmet...

I have always heard people say that "if you fall in love with something, buy it... Eventually it will find it's way into your home"!!! I firmly believe this, and have had many cases where this adage was confirmed, to my sheer delight!!! You may remember this pelmet I found a while back at Charlotte's Brocante... After I left my eyes wander around my home for a while, I had a lovely idea! It was the right size to be used as a valance over my shower door!!! I love that it hides the rod holding the vintage lace tablecloth I had used as a shower curtain (and the shaving cream can my husband insists on placing on top of the door...). I just purchased another tension rod and just pinned the pelmet around it; this way I can easily remove it if I change my mind. Yep, the adage is true...

An exemplary ancestor

As I was cleaning some drawers in my bedroom armoire, I came across this photocopy of a newspaper clip I almost forgot I had... It featured my great-grandfather (you may remember my post about my paternal grandmother, his daughter), for a very special reason. Pedro, my great-grandfather, was honored for having worked for the same bank for seventy years!!! He started when he was only 17, and did not retire until he was 86 years old... He proudly revealed that, in all those years, he only called in sick twelve days, because of a pneumonia epidemic!! The newspaper article also reveals that Pedro was a very notable athlete, having competed in gymnastics, wrestling, track, bicycling, rowing, sailing and racing... He was also praised for having introduced Greco-Roman Wrestling in Portugal.

I love finding these old testimonies to my family's history... I love even more telling my children about their ancestors' accomplishments...!!! I hope it will inspire them to live their lives with, amongst many other values,  honor, dedication and gratitude.

A lovely find

Yesterday, while fluffing my space at Monticello, I fell in love with this sweet desk.... I kept thinking I wished I had a use for it, but couldn't come up with one... So I went about my business and then it hit me! I had an old, unattractive computer desk in our great room, and this would be perfect for it!!! Yes, we would lose some drawer space, but we only gather junk in the drawers anyway!! I am just so in love with in!!! I just love how the pink paint in the legs was spared but the rest was stripped of the paint...

Here are some other lovely finds I came across recently...

I also wanted to let you know that, sadly, I have left Stars due to underwhelming sales... As for Monticello, Lisa and I have shared a large space for the past couple of years and we are both moving to smaller spaces. Lisa will move to her space in May and I will wait for the next available booth (hopefully only a few months!!), so my absence from Monticello will only be temporary, and you will see me back there soon!!
