Rain, rain, go away...

A few days ago, our rainy and cloudy Northwest was drenched with a "sample" of summertime...!! The kids had a blast running through the sprinklers and eating icees! I am feeling cabin fever and I want my sun back!!! In the meantime, I'll just dwell on some short lived memories...

More Barn House...

Following up from the previous post, here are some pictures of Joe and Jermonne's beautiful country home in Washington! I wish I had a better camera, that day... They have done an incredible job decorating their house and I know it is just a matter of time before we see it in a magazine!

Here is a picture of the things I found at their sale, that day! A couple of ticking pillows and linens, some french books, vintage paper doilies and masking tape, a little compact box, glass lamp and a doll head. If you have a chance to go to their next sale, I highly encourage you!!

Barn House Sale!!!

Yesterday my friends Diane, Joy and I went to the first -I hope of many - Barn House sale in Battle Ground (Washington). Joe and Jermonne did an amazing job, everything looked so warm and inviting, even in an old barn!! Our friend Cindy, from Tarte, was also a vendor, her things have a very french, romantic feel and are always very popular! We spent a good two hours there, and had a really fun time! We were even treated to a tour of Joe and Jermonne's gorgeous home, they have done an incredible job decorating, and I thought I was looking right at the pages of Country Home or Country Living magazine!! I took many pictures, but I don't know why some are blue (I borrowed my daughter's camera, since my point and shoot camera died on me...). I hope you will enjoy the tour, blue and all...!!
Tomorrow I will post a picture of the goodies I bought and I will also give you a small tour of their beautiful home!!

Here is Diane, Cindy and Joy, and in the "blue" picture are Joy, Cindy, Diane and I.

Simple secret

"Goodbye", said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

When I was young, my favorite thing to do was reading. For me, it was a welcoming refuge from the daily chaos of growing up with five siblings... "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint Exupery quicly became (and still is) one of my favorite books of all times! It truly aches me that my kids don't enjoy reading as much as I did when I was their age... When I was 8 or 9, my mom would let me walk to the bookstore every Saturday to get a new book. One of my favorite collections was the books by the Comtesse de Segur. I sudied in a full immersion french school, so most of my reading was in french.

Another of my favorite reads was a book published by the Readers Digest, called "the World's Best Fairy Tales". I would read it from cover to cover, day after day... I had the portuguese version, and was delighted to have found the english version shortly after I moved to the US... Today I don't read nearly as much as I would love to, but the day will come when I will do more than look at the pretty pictures in magazines...!! You wait and see!!

I leave you with some pictures of some lovely things I found at a church sale my friend Jeanne and I went last Friday. Whe had lots of fun and came back with great sfuff at even better prices! My favorite finds were a large oval mirror with gorgeous detailing and the huge pickling container, not to mention the beautiful ladies prints snatched at only 50 cents a piece!!...

Happy Mother's Day!!

My sweet husband and kids surprised me today with a wonderful, yummy breakfast!! Lovely pink roses (of course) were a thoughtul centerpiece to the banquet table. I knew they were coming, since my five year old son blurted out "Mommy, we got you flowers!!" yesterday, at dinner time... My daughter Rita gave me a beautiful card where she explained why her mom is special! I was reading it out loud at breakfast, and then I came to the part where she says "I think my mom is best at ... cleaning up the house"... I chuckled and said "Boy, I am so glad your standards are so low!!". Then my funny husband said, without loosing a beat "this is not a wish list, Rita...!!" Of course, we all cracked up laughing!!!

Today, I also think about my mom. I have always been close to my mom, and I know she was heartbroken when I moved an ocean's away. My mom is very much a mama bear, loves to have all her (six) kids around and always has our best interest at heart. She would do absolutely anything for us, and I love her so much!! I am sharing a picture of her when she got married, 50 years ago. Isn't she beautiful?

I went to Monticello yesterday, and took some wonderful pictures to share with you... Lisa and I have a space, there, under the name "Tickled Pink". We started our venture 4 years ago at an antique mall in Sherwood, where we live, then one day she took me to Monticello, and this magical place has become one of my favorite places to shop! The prices on most things are very affordable, the displays are gorgeous and the selection, as you will see, is to die for!!
Enjoy the tour, there are a lot of pictures!!

I hope you have enjoyed my tour...! If you are ever in Portland, make sure to include a visit to this wonderful antique mall!! Here is the address:

Have a great mother's day, everyone!!
