Time to sew!

Today I decided to tackle some sewing projects I have been wanting to get done!! It felt good to accomplish something, even if the laundry is piling up!!! Actually, the first project involved abosolutely no sewing... I have a few old cotton feed sacks that I have wanted to turn into pillows, so all I did was cut to the size I needed plus about 2 inches on each side, then I fringed the edges into 1" wide strips and tied the pairs of fringes into a double knot!! That was easy! One down, three more to go!

Then, I used an old quilt scrap to build a darling pillow with one of the blocks. I used my fast method to sew a backing to the pillow, starting with a cute pink shirt I found at a thrift store.

Finally, I grabbed one of my favorite baskets and gave it a pretty "dress"!! Can you see me going to the farmer's market or thrifting with it? I love the way it turned out! I have a few more baskets I want to "dress up", I will share them with you soon!!

There is still time to join in my 100th Post Triple Giveaway!!! All you have to do is leave me a comment here and you qualify to win some wonderful items from my own private collections!!

  4. I love all of the projects! But I have to say the feedsack pillow is my favorite, mostly because it's actually something I could do. The sewing machine is not my best friend.

  6. Isabel, I just love the feedsack pillow. You are so clever to tie the fringe into knots! I will have to try this. Your little quilt pillow is a doll too and another good idea to use the pink blouse on the back. Thanks for sharing. blessings, carrell

  9. Wow you've been busy. Love the cushion idea what a simple and pretty way to do it. The basket looks lovely, does the fabric liner just sit inside or have you attached it in some way?
Looking forward to seeing the next things.
    Take care.

  14. OH MY GOSH! I love this sewing method with the shirt on the back and that button! I have got to go home and try this. You are one brilliant lady. This is the first time to your blog and I just love it! The basket liner too cute. My hubby and I sold fresh eggs at farmer's markets for years and I loved it when women had creative (and totally cute) baskets to carry their items in. Loved your post.

    Debbie

  25. Fun, fun, fun, Isabel! The lined basket brought back fun memories of helping "prepare" the room for our grandaughter. I made a basket or two like yours (only smaller) to hold some of the little things a new mommy wants to have. Thanks for the reminder and inspiration to make one for a redone room at our place.

    Have a great weekend!

    Betty :)
